Funding to Schools

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools.  What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?

Answer from Daniel K. Denier:

I believe that communication with the public is crucial for any public office. In order to gain support for any type of decision that a school board makes, we must educate the public through information. Luckily, in today’s world, we have a multitude of ways to communicate. I believe that we should be willing to communicate through social media, email, text message, printed articles, mailers and any other form necessary to keep the public educated regarding issues such as our local school spending and our plans to monitor the results of our spending. A well informed public can make for a supportive public. And in order to provide the best possible schools and educations for our students, we need the support of the citizens of our district. I believe that it is very important that members of a school board must be easily accessible and approachable to the community. We are elected to represent the people of our district. The best way to represent the citizens of our district is by keeping them well informed and by listening to their concerns and their feedback.
